Irish Cheese Awards 2021
SLATED was thrilled when Cáis, the Irish Cheesemakers, entrusted us with designing their prestigious Irish cheese awards 2021. Honoring Ireland’s finest cheesemakers is no small feat, and we knew the awards had to reflect the same passion, artistry, and dedication that Cáis artisans pour into their craft.
Each Irish Cheese Award was meticulously handcrafted from natural slate, a medium as timeless and distinct as the cheeses it celebrates. The rich textures and unique character of every piece pay homage to the craftsmanship that defines Irish cheesemaking. We couldn’t be prouder to bring our heritage of sustainable artistry to such a celebrated tradition.
Here at SLATED, we have a true passion for Irish cheese. There’s something extraordinary about it—the depth, the character, the unmistakable richness crafted by artisans who pour their hearts into every wheel and wedge. Irish cheese is more than food; it’s a story of our land, our heritage, and our dedication to excellence. We’re proud to celebrate this tradition, and every time we create an award for Irish cheesemakers, we’re honoring that same spirit of craftsmanship and care.

A gift guide for Cheese Lovers – Proper Food
Katia from Properfood.ie is a woman who knows a thing or two about cheese and has a new definitive Gift Guide for Cheese Lovers.
This is not Proper Foods first guide for cheese, there was a post about gifts for the cheese lover in your life a couple of years ago.
And we are delighted to say Slated are still on that list, with our personalised Cheese Boards.
“Finally, I like a good cheese-board. I know there are stunningly beautiful ones made from wood but I’d be too worried about damaging them. This is why I think slate makes the best cheese-board. And in Ireland, slate means Slated! Tara and her husband hand-carve every single slate item that comes out of their studio which means that each piece is ever so slightly different. If you like, they will personalise the board for you. I don’t think I would opt for that option myself, because I’m certain everyone already knows that all the cheese is mine. ” Proper Food – A Gift Guide for Cheese Lovers
